Join Crossroads Community Services Board as a Full-Time Registered Nurse in Lunenburg, Virginia. We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated RN to provide nursing and behavioral health services to individuals in our community. This position is anticipated to begin December 1, 2026

- Current Registered Nurse licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia required.
- Experience in psychiatric or behavioral health nursing preferred.
- Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule based on agency and program needs.
- Must be willing to float to other clinic locations when coverage is needed.
General Description
The Registered Nurse is responsible for providing nursing care services under the direction of a licensed Psychiatrist, Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, or Physician Assistant to individuals with mental illness, intellectual and developmental disabilities, and/or substance use disorders.
This position provides clinical assessment, medication monitoring, treatment planning, patient education, care coordination, outreach, follow-up, and case management support. The RN will work closely with providers and other members of the treatment team to promote recovery-oriented, person-centered, and integrated care.
This position is designated as Level Two under the HIPAA Privacy Rule and is exempt under FLSA
.
- Triage patient calls involving medication side effects, symptom changes, and crisis concerns.
- Provide clinical support and nursing recommendations to medical providers.
- Educate individuals regarding diagnoses, medications, treatment plans, and symptom management.
- Monitor and document individual responses to treatment and medications.
- Administer medications and injections as ordered by authorized medical providers and in accordance with agency policies.
- Obtain vital signs and basic clinical information.
- Assist with patient intake procedures, including AIMS assessments, Gene Sight testing, screenings, and questionnaires.
- Schedule individuals for appointments with psychiatrists and psychiatric nurse practitioners.
- Maintain medication inventory, samples, and medication assistance program documentation.
- Monitor medication compliance and conduct follow-up and outreach with individuals who may be noncompliant with treatment.
- Coordinate and assist with ordered laboratory work and other medical procedures.
- Complete prior authorizations, prescription follow-up, and other clinical documentation in a timely manner.
- Maintain accurate electronic and paper medical records in accordance with agency policies and regulatory requirements.
- Assess and identify individual treatment and service needs.
- Assist with treatment planning, supportive counseling, referrals, and coordination of community services.
- Coordinate care with physicians, psychiatric providers, nurses, families, and other service providers.
- Supervise and/or delegate appropriate nursing duties to LPNs as applicable.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, clinical protocols, and other agency activities.
- Perform other duties consistent with the responsibilities of the position.
Successful candidates should have knowledge of:
- Professional nursing practices and psychiatric nursing standards.
- Mental health, intellectual/developmental disabilities, and substance use disorders.
- Psychotropic medications, medication monitoring, and potential side effects.
- Clinical assessments, treatment planning, crisis intervention, and discharge planning.
- Community resources, healthcare systems, and support services.
- HIPAA privacy and security requirements.
- Applicable federal, state, and local healthcare regulations.
Candidates must also demonstrate the ability to:

- Coordinate services with community providers and natural supports.
- Accurately document clinical information and treatment needs.
