Summary of FunctionsUnder the supervision of the Golf Course Superintendent or the Assistant Golf Course Superintendent the Green Keeper I participates in the construction and maintenance of the golf course turf and not-turf areas and assists in watering any deficiencies in the moisture levels of the greens, tees, fairways and roughs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Participates in the daily set up of the golf course.
- Participates in the daily hand watering of the golf course to correct irrigation deficiencies.
- Participates in the daily operation of the greens, tees, fairways, roughs, bunkers, cart paths and other non-turf areas.
- Setting up the golf course including; changing holes, changing tee locations and marking course.
- Water greens, tees, approaches, fairways, roughs, and all landscape areas.
- Trims and edges sprinkler heads, quick couplers and yardage markers.
- Assists with construction projects on the course.
- Operates light weight power equipment and mowers.
- Performs golf course maintenance procedures including; mowing, trimming, watering, edging, raking, blowing, sweeping, weeding and etc.
- Responsible for maintaining a good attendance record.
- May be required to be a panelist for the Internal Review Hearings.

Education- High school diploma and GED.
- 1-2 years of experience in golf course maintenance.
- Knowledge of tools, methods and materials used in grounds and landscape area maintenance work.
- Ability to operate heavy motorized and power equipment.
- Ability to operate light motorized and power equipment.
- Ability to follow oral and written directions
- Possession of a valid driver’s license.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a valid work permit.
- Available and willing to work nights, weekends and holidays as required.

- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to the outside environmental conditions and is not protected from weather conditions. The worker is exposed to working in extreme weather extremes including; cool and wet, and hot and dry conditions. The worker is frequently exposed to working on wet grass which can be slippery to walk or drive on.
The worker is exposed to moving mechanical parts, vehicle emissions, mechanical noises, and airborne particles. The worker is also exposed to potentially hazardous chemicals, fuels, fertilizers and other materials used in the maintenance of the golf course.
