The Cornell University Hospital for Animals (CUHA) seeks a Licensed Veterinary Technician to join the Large Animal Internal Medicine Service. This position provides advanced nursing care for hospitalized large animal patients while supporting emergency care, diagnostic procedures, and clinical teaching within one of the nation's leading veterinary teaching hospitals. Thejob responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Providing comprehensive nursing care for hospitalized large animal patients, including patient assessment, treatments, and medication administration.
- Assisting with emergency cases, diagnostic procedures, imaging, and medical interventions to support high-quality patient care.
- Teaching and mentoring veterinary students, interns, and trainees by demonstrating clinical techniques and best practices in patient care.
- Maintaining accurate medical records, medication dispensing, and patient charges while supporting safe, efficient hospital operations.
Employees working in the hospital must receive the pre-exposure rabies prophylaxis vaccination series prior to or immediately after hire, which will be paid for by the department.
Required Qualifications- Associate's degree in veterinary technology from an AVMA accredited school with NYS licensure (or eligibility to be licensed) with 2 years of LVT experience or equivalent
- An interest or background in working with multiple farm animal species including horses, cows, sheep, goats, camelids, and pigs.
- Must be able to meet the physical demands of the position including but not limited to prolonged standing and lifting/restraining animals that may exceed 50lbs.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders and other hospital team members.
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced clinical environment while managing multiple priorities and maintaining close attention to detail,
- Proficiency in utilizing veterinary patient management software or willingness and ability to learn.
- This is an onsite position located in Ithaca, NY.

While the regular business hours are 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, the specific schedule may change to meet the needs of the business, requiring employees to work early mornings, evenings, weekends and University holidays and scheduled breaks. This position requires working a 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. shift every other Monday.
