Oncology Technician Assistant

Maine Veterinary Medical Center is looking to add a compassionate and skilled Oncology Technician Assistant to our team. At our Rarebreed clinic, you can help reimagine the veterinary experience in your community. Maine Veterinary Medical Center (MVMC) is a VECCS level two certified Rarebreed practice that has full in-house laboratory capabilities, a fluoroscopy suite for interventional procedures, a GE 64-slice CT, MRI, respiratory ventilator, in-house telemetric monitoring, ultrasound and endoscopy. MVMC is a multi-specialty hospital offering services in Emergency & Critical Care, Neurology, Internal Medicine, Surgery, Oncology, Cardiology, Ophthalmology, Radiology, and Rehabilitation & Sports Medicine.

Our collaborative team of experienced emergency clinicians and criticalists enables us to provide advanced, high-quality care to a knowledgeable and dedicated client base.

Technician Assistant - Oncology

Maine Veterinary Medical Center in Scarborough, ME

$18.00-$22.00 per hour based on experience

• Support technicians and veterinarians with oncology patient care, including safe handling and restraint of patients undergoing diagnostics and treatments
• Assist with chemotherapy appointments by preparing rooms, gathering supplies, and ensuring proper safety and cleanliness protocols are followed
• Monitor patient comfort by changing bedding, walking patients, and maintaining a clean, low-stress environment
• Clean and disinfect treatment areas following oncology-specific safety protocols
• Assist with stocking and organizing supplies for oncology services
• Support client experience by helping with patient flow, discharge readiness, and general client communication as directed
• Maintain accurate records and ensure all treatments, forms, and patient identifiers are up to date
• Observe patients closely and alert technicians to any changes in condition or behavior

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Minimum one year previous experience in a veterinary or animal handling role required
• Must be a team player with a positive attitude
• Able to multi-task
• Able to lift 50 pounds
