Apex Vets is an independently owned emergency and specialty veterinary hospital located in Silver Spring, Maryland, serving the greater Washington, D.C. metropolitan area.

Our hospital provides emergency and specialty care in a modern facility with advanced diagnostics, experienced nursing support, and a collaborative team of specialists and emergency clinicians.

We are continuing to grow our specialty services and are seeking board-certified or board-eligible specialists who are interested in practicing high-quality medicine in an independently owned hospital.

Position Overview

The Veterinary Specialist will provide specialty consultations, diagnostics, treatment, and procedures within their area of expertise while working collaboratively with emergency clinicians and other specialty services.

This position offers the opportunity to help develop and grow a specialty service while building strong relationships with referring veterinarians throughout the region.

Responsibilities
  • Provide specialty consultations, diagnostics, and treatment
  • Perform procedures appropriate to your specialty
  • Collaborate with emergency veterinarians and specialty colleagues
  • Develop diagnostic and treatment plans
  • Communicate with clients and referring veterinarians
  • Maintain complete and accurate medical records
  • Mentor technicians, interns, residents, and colleagues as appropriate
  • Participate in the continued growth and development of your specialty service
Qualifications
  • DVM or VMD degree from an accredited college of veterinary medicine
  • Board-certified or board-eligible in your specialty
  • Licensed or eligible for veterinary licensure in Maryland
  • Strong clinical, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to providing exceptional patient care
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary hospital
