Job Title: Veterinary Technician (Full-time/Part-time)
Location: Guardian Veterinary Emergency, Orange County - Middletown, NY
Signing Bonus: $10,000 for Full‑time
Hourly Pay Range: $25.00 to $35.00 per hour – hourly pay
Position OverviewWe are currently seeking Veterinary Technicians to join our team on both a full‑time and part‑time basis. You will work with a talented and supportive group, delivering top‑notch emergency care to our patients.
Responsibilities- Shift and
Schedule:
4 day work week. Weekends, holidays and on calls required. - Perform basic to intermediate nursing care tasks, patient monitoring, and treatments.
- Use understanding of common diseases and conditions, physical assessment, and monitoring parameters to accurately triage incoming patients.
- Administer subcutaneous, intramuscular, and intravenous medications and understand potential adverse effects of medications.
- Set‑up, monitor, and administer intravenous fluid therapy including constant rate infusions and blood transfusion therapy.
- Contribute to incoming outpatient care and ongoing inpatient care.
- Collect samples and perform in‑house diagnostic tests.
- Perform nursing care tasks such as placing and/or maintaining urinary catheters, nasoenteral tubes, nasal oxygen tubes, chest and abdominal tubes.
- Administer, monitor, and maintain patients under general anesthesia.
- Perform vascular access techniques including jugular catheter placement, sampling line placement, central line placement.
- Participate in formulating treatment, anesthetic, and nursing care plans.
- Conduct treatments according to protocolized plans.
- Aid in managing patient care workload to ensure the patients are receiving uncompromised care.
- Organize work area and exercise time management skills to maximize personal efficiency within the practice.
- Prioritize tasks and handle multiple tasks in a calm manner.
- Client communication.
- Additional duties as assigned based on position/department.
- Must have NYS Veterinary Technician’s license (cost covered for those who need to obtain a license in NY).
- Some experience working in a veterinary emergency hospital preferred.
- Must have reliable transportation.
- Able to perform moderately physically demanding work that requires lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Flexibility and the ability to accommodate shift work in a 24‑hour/7‑day hospital.
- Have great people skills and communicate well in person, over email, and on the phone.
