Veterinary Assistant, Emergency

As a state-of-the-art, 24-hour emergency and critical care hospital, you''ll gain exposure to diverse emergency cases while working alongside experienced clinicians and specialists. In your day-to-day, you will:
  • Support veterinarians and veterinary technicians in delivering exceptional patient care.
  • Safely restrain and handle patients using low-stress handling techniques.
  • Obtain patient histories from pet owners and communicate relevant information to the medical team.
  • Accurately obtain and record patient weights and vital signs.
  • Assist with triage by recognizing urgent patient needs and following hospital protocols for critical patients.
  • Prepare injections using aseptic technique for administration by veterinarians or veterinary technicians.
  • Collect, package, label, and properly store laboratory samples.
  • Assist with routine examinations, treatments, and hospitalized patient care.
  • Monitor patient comfort and behavior, communicating changes to the clinical team.
  • Maintain treatment areas, exam rooms, and hospital cleanliness.
  • Assist with inventory management and communicate supply needs.
  • Crosstrain to provide support for the Client Care team as needed.
  • Maintain effective communication across departments to support outstanding patient and client care.
  • Work closely with veterinarians, technicians, and support teams.
  • Contribute to a positive, team-focused hospital culture.
What You Bring
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of one year of veterinary experience.
  • Strong patient handling and animal restraint skills.
  • Excellent communication and client service abilities.
  • Ability to multitask and remain organized in a fast-paced emergency environment.
  • Positive attitude with the ability to work collaboratively under pressure.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality patient care.
  • A collaborative mindset and commitment to exceptional patient care.
