Blue Pearl Pet Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA is seeking a Veterinarian Hospitalist to provide medical oversight to a variety of hospitalized veterinary patients. You will join our large referral team with 7 criticalists across our Pittsburgh locations and a house officer program featuring rotating interns, emergency and critical care interns, residents, and surgical interns and residents.
Responsibilities- Diagnose and treat animals with illnesses and injuries.
- Evaluate patient status, make timely treatment and diagnostic plans/orders, administer medications, interpret diagnostic test results, communicate effectively with pet owners and primary care veterinarians, and collaborate on patient care with other veterinarians within the practice.
- Dress animal wounds and treat animals with fractures.
- Write prescriptions for sick animals.
- Complete appropriate documentation and request referrals from other specialists as needed.
- Serve as a hospital leader in setting a pleasant, engaging, and professional work environment.

Blue Pearl Pittsburgh Pet Hospital is a comprehensive multi‑specialty and referral hospital in Western Pennsylvania with over 30 specialists across 10 specialties. The 35,000 square‑foot facility, opened in 2008, offers advanced diagnostics, including 1.5T MRI, 64‑slice CT, linear accelerator, multiple ultrasound machines, video endoscopy, digital radiography, C‑arm fluoroscopy, ECG telemetry, and dedicated suites for endoscopy, ultrasound, and oncology. Whatyou need to excel at Blue Pearl
- DVM or VMD degree required.
- Completion of a rotating internship or residency in emergency and critical care preferred but not required.
- Current license to practice veterinary medicine in this state.
- Strong diagnostic and clinical skills with the ability to make rapid and accurate assessments in emergency situations.
