Perform essential greenhouse tasks as assigned. Interact well with quests in order to successfully sell plants and plant related products. Be familiar with sales procedures and-minimal accounting practices.

• Assist in maintaining integrity of greenhouse environment including irrigation and climate control systems in order to provide ideal growing conditions.
• Practice basic greenhouse/plant growth techniques as assigned, to include but not limited to: watering, potting, fertilizing, washing pots, staking, and pruning.
• Identify plant needs and indicators of disease, stress or insect infestations.
• Daily monitoring and control measures as they relate to our IPM program.
• Answer guest questions with accurate information and demonstrate a friendly and helpful personality by smiling eye, contact, initiating conversation and engaging with others.
• Provide advice to guests about the selection, purchase and care of plants.
• Assist in the preparation of major decorating schemes, promotions, amenities, special tasks, and programs.
• Maintain greenhouse inventories of equipment, tools, and supplies.
• Maintain current horticultural and plant knowledge, technical updates, and provide support for our IPM program.
• Record Garden Shop and Greenhouse inventory. Stock, supplies and work with Greenhouse Manager on gift inventory and amenities.
• Assist in regular house decoration and decoration for special occasions.
• Communicate needs with Greenhouse Supervisor or Greenhouse Grower.
• Adhere to all safety rules and regulations and wear safety equipment as required by Mohonk Mountain House.
• Work alongside other departments and provide support to ensure guest satisfaction.
• Interact with fellow staff and guests in a professional, courteous method.
• Positively influence staff morale and exemplify a cooperative attitude.
• Work productively and efficiently with or without supervision when performing routine tasks.
• Maintain order on job site and within greenhouse storage areas.
• Ensure safety of guests, employees, and self, anywhere on the property.
• Adhere to all safety rules and regulations and wear safety equipment as required by Mohonk Mountain House.
• Adhere to Mohonk Mountain House’s Dress and Grooming Standards; presenting a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance and maintaining a positive, professional image to our customers.
• Learn and successfully demonstrate the Mohonk Mountain House Service Steps with Service Strategies with guests and staff.
• Learn and retain knowledge of historical facts and information about Mohonk Mountain House.
• Maintain a flexible work schedule including days/nights, weekdays/weekends, holidays, and during peak periods of business.
• Develop and maintain positive working relationships with other staff.
• Support all Mohonk Mountain House programs and policies
• See colors so as to recognize visual indicators concerning plant health and color coordination for decorating purposes.
• Use, operate, or maneuver effectively various gardening hand tools and equipment such as but not limited to trowels, pruners, garden knives, loppers, shovels, rakes, watering cans, water hoses, watering wands, sprayers, wheelbarrows, and garden carts.
• Work under high pressure situations, maintaining good personal composure.
• Perform basic mathematical skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and perform and record cash/credit transactions accurately.
