Overview

As a Summit at Snoqualmie Snowmaker I, you play a vital role in launching our ski and tubing season as early as possible and helping maintain the snow base that makes skiing and riding possible throughout the season. This entry-level, hands-on, and physically demanding position is perfect for individuals who love working outdoors, are team-oriented, mechanically inclined, and thrive in cold and rugged mountain environments.

Snowmaker I's learn the fundamentals of safe snow making equipment operation under the guidance of more experienced crew members.

Come work and play at Seattle’s home mountain, The Summit ated an hour

West of Seattle via Interstate 90 at Snoqualmie Pass, The Summit includes four unique mountain areas, a snow tubing park, Nordic center, Snow Sports School , and 10+ food and beverage establishments.

Responsibilities

Job duties may include, but are not limited to:

Excellence in Execution
  • Perform pre-use visual and auditory inspection of hydrants and identify failure vectors
  • Operate traditional water hydrants, including open/close procedures and over-pressure/hose-burst awareness
  • Hook up, start up, and shut down snow guns (SMI Pole Cat/Denali/Boyne Low E tower guns), including valve manifold checks
  • Connect and manage hydraulic hose bundles from hydrant to tower manifold, preventing kinks and burst hazards
  • Learn and follow radio protocol, including channel use, 10-codes, and calling in all gun state changes
  • Operate snowmobiles and ATVs/UTVs safely on steep, variable mountain terrain following certification standards
  • Safely board and unload chairlifts with tools; maintain snowcat boarding safety and blind-spot awareness
Attitude is Everything
  • Safely navigate mountain terrain, including tree-line travel, basic step-cutting, and avoiding boot holes in ski terrain
  • Perform additional duties/support when necessary, adapting willingly to shifting crew needs
Qualifications What we are looking for:
Required
  • Willingness to learn is essential; no prior snow making experience required
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including day and night shifts, weekends, and holidays
  • Must be physically capable of negotiating all types of mountainous terrain while attending to snow making equipment
  • Must be willing to work outside in all weather conditions
  • Punctual, positive, and adaptable; works safely and willingly in all types of weather without complaint
  • Ability to work independently once trained, while knowing personal limits and asking for help when uncertain
  • Must be at least 18 years old and have a valid driver's license
  • Safety oriented mindset
  • Strong self-motivated
Preferred
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Related technical or outdoor experience

Wage and Benefit Info

The wage for this positions is: from $26.00/hr

This is a non-benefited role.

  • All individuals may contribute to the 401(k). An employee must work 1,000 hours in a calendar year to qualify for the discretionary match (there is a 2 year vesting cliff).
  • All individuals accrue sick time at 1 hour per 40 hours worked to a maximum of 64 hours per year.
