Job Planning, Risk Management & Critical Controls

  • Work with employees, Site Manager, supervision, and client as a resource for job planning and safe execution of work.
  • Assist in developing and updating the Site Safety Plan.
  • Develop site policies and procedures for approval by the B&R Site Manager.
  • Participate in Level 2 Risk Assessments to ensure work can be completed safely and required controls are identified.
  • Verify that Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), Safe Work Practices, permits, and required pre-job planning documents are completed and available before work begins.
  • Perform field verification of JSAs and risk assessments to ensure the actual work being performed matches the planned controls.
  • Participate in pre-job meetings, job walks, permit reviews, GRA’s, and work planning activities for high-risk and non-routine work.
  • Verify barricades, signage, access/egress, exclusion zones, and other required controls are established and maintained for hazardous work activities.
  • Verify field implementation of energy isolation, lockout/tagout, zero-energy-state requirements, and other critical controls before maintenance work begins.
  • Monitor compliance with B&R, client, OSHA, and site-specific safety requirements while work is being performed in the field.
  • Authorize plans around asbestos, lead, and excavation work as determined by competency level.

Field Inspections, Audits & Corrective Actions

  • Conduct routine field inspections of work areas, tools, equipment, scaffolds, ladders, fall protection systems, electrical equipment, and personal protective equipment.
  • Conduct and document field safety audits, including housekeeping, PPE, line-of-fire, dropped-object, lifting and rigging, energy isolation/LOTO, confined space, excavation, hot work, and fall protection observations.
  • Conduct various audits on a routine basis, including UMT audits, Team Audits, JSA audits, and other assigned safety audits.
  • Track safety observations, identified deficiencies, corrective actions, responsible parties, and completion dates to ensure timely closure.
  • Perform follow-up field verification of corrective actions to confirm hazards have been effectively eliminated or controlled.
  • Monitor housekeeping and material storage in active work areas to reduce trip hazards, struck-by hazards, fire hazards, and access/egress concerns.
  • Conduct routine observations of hand safety, body positioning, line-of-fire exposures, pinch points, and ergonomic risks associated with maintenance activities.
  • Verify emergency equipment and response resources are available, accessible, inspected, and properly maintained in designated work areas.

Training, Competency & Employee Engagement

  • Cultivate and track Safety Energy participation of the site according to B&R policies and procedures.
  • Assist in developing an annual Training Plan.
  • Schedule, conduct, enter, and file required training, including new hire orientation, equipment training, confined space, fall protection, Performing Authority, Lead Worker, respiratory protection, and other assigned training.
  • Coordinate the hiring process for newly hired employees and support onboarding activities.
  • Assist with onboarding and field mentoring of new employees by reinforcing site safety expectations, safe work practices, and stop-work authority.
  • Develop and distribute toolbox packets for supervision to use weekly.
  • Conduct focused safety campaigns and field awareness activities based on incident trends, audit findings, seasonal hazards, and site-specific risk exposures.
  • Ensure glove inventory is maintained for B&R-required gloves that are not provided by the client.
  • Conduct routine PPE compliance checks and verify employees have the appropriate PPE for the hazards associated with their assigned work.
  • Acquire state certifications in Asbestos and Lead removal.

Incident Response, Investigation & Medical Management

  • Conduct investigations for incidents occurring at the site, including interviews of personnel, completion of required reports, incident entry into applicable systems, photographic documentation, and joint development of corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
