Overview:
The QC Data Management Technician serves as the liaison between the Quality Control team and the Data Management team, ensuring that quality control data generated in the field is accurately and completely captured within the project's data management system. This role reviews QC data for completeness and approval, performs data entry for all features of work, conducts quality checks on records already in the system, and supports field data collection workflows.
The position requires close, ongoing coordination with Production, QC, and Data Management staff to keep project records accurate, complete, and up to date.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Review quality control data and documentation submitted by field/QC personnel for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with project requirements prior to approval.
- Perform QC approval of quality control data within the data management system, verifying that required tests, inspections, and documentation are present before records are finalized.
- Enter data for all features of work into the data management system, including QC test results, inspection records, and other production/QC documentation, via both web-based and tablet-based data entry tools.
- Conduct routine quality checks on data already in the data management system, identifying and correcting missing, duplicate, or inconsistent entries.
- Support field data collection workflows, including coordinating digital and manual data capture and troubleshooting data entry issues in the field.
- Serve as the primary liaison between Production, QC, and Data Management, communicating data status, discrepancies, and outstanding items across teams.
- Track and follow up on incomplete or missing QC data with field and QC staff to ensure timely resolution.
- Maintain organized records of QC approvals, data entry activity, and quality checks performed.
- Help maintain and follow data entry standards, checklists, and standard operating procedures for the data management system.
- Assist with generating routine data status reports and summaries for project team use.
- Perform other data management support tasks as assigned.
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
- Education or coursework in information management systems, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience in construction, with exposure to quality control testing and field work.
- Experience with data entry, including both digital and manual data collection methods.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy when reviewing and entering data.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively liaise between Production, QC, and Data Management teams.
- Very strong Microsoft Excel skills, including the ability to organize, review, and reconcile data sets.
- Comfort using both web-based and tablet-based data entry tools.
- Working knowledge of relational databases and how data is structured and connected within a data management system.
- General knowledge of construction and quality control processes and terminology.
- Prior experience in a data management or QC coordination role on a construction or heavy civil project.
- Experience with electronic data management systems used to track QC test results and inspection records.
- Familiarity with mobile/tablet-based field data collection applications.
