The Washington State Department of Ecology is seeking an experienced SDET / QA Engineer to support the testing and quality assurance efforts for the EAGL IGX grant and loan management platform. This role will focus on functional testing, defect verification, validation of fixes, and Playwright test automation development.

The selected candidate will work closely with business users, developers, and the software vendor to ensure the quality, reliability, and business readiness of the platform. The engagement will utilize Azure Dev Ops for test management, defect tracking, and reporting. This is a remote opportunity with a duration of approximately four months

• Test grant and loan program templates and funding opportunities within the EAGL IGX platform.
• Verify, reproduce, document, and triage defects reported by business users.
• Collaborate with vendors, stakeholders, and project teams to investigate and validate issues.
• Validate vendor-provided defect fixes in development, pre-production, and production environments.
• Design, develop, maintain, and enhance Playwright automated test scripts.
• Execute functional, regression, smoke, and configuration testing.
• Create and manage test cases, defects, and work items using Azure Dev Ops.
• Perform production validation and post-release verification activities.
• Prepare test reports, defect verification logs, and validation documentation.
• Participate in status meetings and provide testing progress updates.
• Develop knowledge transfer documents, testing procedures, and maintenance documentation.
• Support project closeout activities and provide recommendations for future improvements.

• Strong expertise in QA and Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) practices.
• Proficiency in Playwright automation testing.
• Strong working knowledge of Azure Dev Ops.
• Excellent defect management and troubleshooting skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong documentation and reporting skills.
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Experience Minimum 3–5+ years of QA/SDET experience.
• Hands-on experience with software testing and quality assurance methodologies.
• Experience developing and maintaining automated test scripts.
• Strong experience with Playwright test automation.
• Experience performing functional, regression, smoke, and defect validation testing.
• Experience using Azure Dev Ops for defect tracking, work item management, and reporting.
• Experience collaborating with business stakeholders, development teams, and third-party vendors.
• Experience validating fixes across development, pre-production, and production environments.
• Experience preparing test documentation, reports, and knowledge transfer materials.
