Job Summary

The EHS Manager directs environmental, health, and safety compliance across the assigned facility. This role develops an engaging safety culture, maintains regulatory compliance, oversees risk management programs, and enforces food safety and quality standards (SQF/QA/GMP) to support operational success and target zero incidents.

Essential Functions
  • Direct site compliance for Process Safety Management (PSM), Risk Management Plan (RMP/Cal-ARP), and ammonia systems, including tracking web-based documentation, annual inspections, and release reporting.
  • Develop, enforce, and write machine-specific procedures for Cal-OSHA programs, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Confined Space, Injury & Illness Prevention (IIPP), Heat Exposure, and Workplace Violence Prevention.
  • Manage respiratory protection and hearing conservation initiatives; maintain personal medical clearance and fit-testing credentials.
  • Oversee site-wide PPE assessments, forklift driver evaluations, and licensing.
  • Enforce Contractor Safety Programs via compliance reviews and random safety inspections.
  • Manage local and state environmental filings, including CERS, Annual Emissions Questionnaires, Vessel Permits, Fire/Sprinkler Inspections, Backflow, Stormwater, and Wastewater programs.
  • Conduct regular safety audits, generate work orders for noted deficiencies, and collaborate with leadership to resolve items.
  • Maintain Emergency Evacuation Plans, coordinate response teams, and execute required drills.
  • Deliver safety and environmental orientations for new hires, alongside required Cal-OSHA, chemical safety (SDS), and operational training.
  • Maintain plant training matrices, tracking logs, and compliance records in coordination with Regulatory Leadership.
  • Support plant operational goals, SQF/GMP standards, and continuous improvement initiatives ("Make It Better") without compromising safety or food quality.
  • Drive an engaging, proactive site-wide safety culture with active participation across all employee levels.
  • Co-chair the Safety Committee alongside the site leaders, driving resolution of safety suggestions and concerns.
  • Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) investigations for incidents and revise protocols to prevent recurrence.
  • Host regulatory officials, auditors, and visitors, ensuring facilities are always tour- and audit-ready.
  • Support and enforce SQF / QA, GMP, Safety policies and procedures, and production needs. "Food Safety and Quality" are the responsibilities of this position.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities

No direct reports. Direct the work of personnel hired to work on safety-related programs and giving instruction and help needed for the employees to achieve their goals.
