Responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining product flow through CMM inspection to support program demand and production schedules while promoting a safe and secure working environment and ensuring employees follow applicable safety requirements
  • Monitoring CMM inspection activities and addressing routine equipment, software, and program issues that may affect daily inspection requirements.
  • Performing basic troubleshooting of CMM programs and software and escalating more complex programming or technical issues to the appropriate technical resource.
  • Manage the development and training of inspectors on CMM equipment operation, inspection procedures, and basic troubleshooting.
  • Establishing work schedules and supporting appropriate staffing levels to meet business requirements.
  • Conducting regular performance discussions and appraisals to ensure team members have the skills and capabilities required to meet quality and production goals.
  • Providing coaching, feedback, and development opportunities to inspection personnel and recommending promotions or changes in status when appropriate.
  • Addressing employee concerns and supporting the resolution of complaints and performance issues in accordance with company policies.
  • Interviewing, selecting, hiring, onboarding, and training inspection personnel.
  • Maintaining and tracking quality KPIs for analysis, process control, and management reporting.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve inspection processes, productivity, and team performance.
  • Conducting other responsibilities as assigned.
  • Exercising sound judgment and discretion when addressing day-to-day operational, quality, and personnel matters

Education:

High School required, Post-secondary education in engineering, metrology, quality, physics, or a related technical field is preferred. Equivalent relevant education, technical training, and work experience that demonstrates the ability to successfully perform the job may be considered.

Certifications:

  • CMM Operator Certification is preferred.
  • GD&T training or certification is preferred.
  • ASQ Certified Inspector or similar quality certification is an asset.
  • Candidates who have relevant CMM and inspection experience but do not currently hold these certifications may be considered.

Years of

Experience:

  • 2–5 years of relevant experience in CMM inspection, quality inspection, inspection lead, metrology, or a related field preferred.

Skills:

  • Working knowledge of CMM operation and inspection processes.
  • Ability to run, read, and make basic adjustments to existing CMM programs.
  • Familiarity with CMM software such as CAMIO and/or PC-DMIS is preferred but programming experience is not required.
  • Ability to perform basic troubleshooting of CMM equipment, software, and programs and recognize when issues require escalation.
  • Good understanding of GD&T, inspection methods, drawings, specifications, and measurement principles.
  • Ability to perform and/or oversee quality inspections of products, materials, components, and machined parts.
  • Ability to identify quality issues and assist with determining appropriate inspection or corrective actions.
  • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills with the ability to manage day-to-day operational challenges.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to coach, motivate, and lead a diverse team.
