Position Summary:

The Food Safety, Quality, and Regulatory (FSQR) Specialist develops and implements Teys USA’s food safety, quality, and regulatory procedures. This includes both proactive and reactive measures, such as scheduled warehouse audits (proactive) and investigations and responses to customer complaints and claims (reactive).

Complaint and claim investigation includes gathering information from Teys customers, suppliers, and logistics service providers, in coordination with the sales, procurement, and supply chain departments, respectively. The FSQR Specialist is also responsible for Teys USA regulatory compliance, including USDA National Organic Program (organic) and customer compliance requirements.

The role offers regular interaction with both internal and external counterparts, including customers, suppliers, and service vendors. The ideal candidate is organized and detail-oriented, communicates clearly across external partners, and brings the versatility and flexibility to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

30% — Proactive Food Safety & Quality Assurance
  • Develop and implement the proactive Food Safety and Quality Assurance program.
  • Conduct mock recalls and warehouse site audits to prevent or minimize food safety and quality failures.
30% — Complaint & Claim Investigation
  • Investigate customer claims to determine validity, gather supporting information, and determine root causes.
  • Create and update cases in Salesforce / Rootstock ERP.
  • Coordinate customer and supplier QA communication and gather data from sources including Salesforce, Opentrack, and Tive.
  • Travel for in-person product evaluation as required.
10% — Claims Responses
  • Respond to customer claims, including issuing corrective action letters.
10% — Supplier Certification Management
  • Collect and archive supplier certifications, including organic certificates, BRC or other food safety accreditations, and grass-fed letters.
10% — Customer Compliance
  • Manage customer food safety compliance requirements to set up and maintain Teys USA as an approved supplier.
  • Maintain customer-facing product specifications.
10% — Other Duties
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Education, Experience & Other

Skills:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Food Safety, Microbiology, Supply Chain, or a related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in supplier quality, food safety auditing, or FSQR in a food manufacturing environment under USDA and/or FDA.
  • Working knowledge of SQF, GFSI standards, and USDA food safety regulations (FSMA, HACCP).
  • Experience investigating customer complaints, product nonconformities, or food safety and quality incidents, including root cause analysis and corrective and preventive action follow-up.
  • Experience conducting food safety and quality audits or facility assessments and evaluating corrective actions resulting from identified findings.
  • Experience implementing or maintaining food safety and quality programs, procedures, records, and verification activities.
