The Principal Engineer, Customer Quality drives critical customer interactions and serves as the primary technical liaison for product quality and reliability. In this high-impact role, you will lead the investigation and resolution of complex quality issues, coordinating closely with failure analysis, product engineering, and cross-functional teams to implement robust corrective actions and maintain strong customer relationships.
Operating at a principal level, you will own the end-to-end customer quality lifecycle, from managing claims and product qualification documentation to leading onsite customer audits and driving global alignment on quality issues. Your technical expertise in semiconductor manufacturing and structured problem-solving will directly influence product reliability and elevate customer satisfaction scorecards.
- Coordinate the investigation of customer complaints in partnership with local failure analysis and product engineering teams, managing the communication of outcomes and claims.
- Partner with engineering and failure analysis teams during quality events to ensure internal global alignment and manage customer relationships.
- Review and submit customer-requested documentation, including product qualification, reliability reports, 8D, and failure analysis reports.
- Coordinate and actively participate in customer quality activities, including Requests for Information (RFIs) and customer audits.
- Lead PPAP preparation, ensuring successful execution and obtaining customer approval.
- Drive cross-functional initiatives to address systemic customer issues, resulting in measurable customer scorecard improvements.
- Conduct proactive visits to customer and factory sites as required to address quality concerns.
- 10+ years of experience in a customer, manufacturing, or supplier quality role within the semiconductor industry.
- C2 English level or higher.
- Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, business, quality, or a related technical discipline.
- Strong background in semiconductor manufacturing processes, including wafer fabrication, package assembly, and testing.
- Proven expertise with structured problem-solving methodologies, such as 8D, Fishbone analysis, 5-Why, and Is/Is-Not analysis.
- Deep competency with quality tools and production control methods, including APQP, Control Plans, FMEA, GD&T, MSA, PPAP, and SPC.
- Ability to work onsite 5 days a week in Santa Clara, CA.
- Hands-on experience with Wafer Fab, 8D Problem Solving.
