Purpose of Your Work:

As Quality Associate/Auditor working within Redwood Distribution
, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with Safe Quality Food (SQF) Code requirements, customer quality standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies throughout warehouse and distribution operations. This position conducts internal audits, verifies food safety and quality programs, identifies areas for improvement, and works with operations to maintain compliance with SQF certification and applicable food safety regulations.

How You Make a Difference Everyday:

  • Conduct scheduled and unscheduled internal SQF audits throughout warehouse operations.
  • Verify compliance with the SQF Code, FDA regulations, GMPs, HACCP principles, customer requirements, and company procedures.
  • Audit receiving, storage, inventory handling, shipping, sanitation, pest control, maintenance, and employee practices.
  • Verify compliance with food defense, food fraud, allergen control, traceability, and recall procedures.
  • Perform routine inspections of warehouse conditions, equipment, and employee practices.
  • Review operational records including:
    • Sanitation records
    • Pest control reports
    • Equipment inspections
    • Training documentation
    • Receiving and shipping documentation
  • Investigate quality concerns, customer complaints, and food safety incidents.
  • Document audit findings and issue corrective action requests.
  • Verify effectiveness of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Assist with root cause investigations using structured problem-solving methods.
  • Prepare reports and communicate audit results to management.
  • Participate in SQF certification audits, customer audits, and regulatory inspections.
  • Maintain audit schedules and compliance documentation.
  • Monitor compliance with Good Distribution Practices (GDPs).
  • Conduct employee food safety observations and coaching.
  • Assist in maintaining the Food Safety Plan and supporting prerequisite programs.
  • Support mock recalls and traceability exercises.
  • Recommend continuous improvement opportunities to strengthen food safety systems.

You’ve Got This?

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in food safety, warehouse quality, or quality assurance.
  • Experience with SQF certification preferred.
  • Working knowledge of:
    • SQF Food Safety Code
    • HACCP
    • GMPs
    • FDA Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA)
    • Sanitation programs
    • Warehouse operations
  • Internal Auditor certification preferred
  • HACCP certification preferred.
  • PCQI certification is a plus.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to conduct objective audits and inspections.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to interpret regulations and quality standards.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Experience using warehouse management systems (WMS) is preferred.
