We are seeking a Compliance Specialist to handle the low-income housing tax-credit (LIHTC) efforts, as it relates to the affordable housing requirements at one of our apartment communities in McLean, VA.
What the Compliance Specialist will be doing:- Coordinate with Leasing Professionals to ensure timely processing of affordable housing paperwork for prospects and current residents.
- Review prospects/residents' financial information necessary to determine eligibility, prior to submission to compliance for final review and approval.
- Confirm that proper lease and addendum documentation have been completed.
- Complete data entry and electronic transmission of information to internal and external sources.
- Participate in regular training and continuing education to remain abreast of changes in the affordable housing requirements.
- Lease apartments as needed. Handle prospect and resident questions, concerns, and requests promptly and efficiently.
- Complete audits and reports, correctly and in a timely manner, as they relate to the affordable housing requirements at the property.
- Assist the Property Manager and/or Assistant Manager in the responsibilities of managing the property, where required.
- Federal Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (Section 42) Program or Section 8 experience preferred.
- College degree in a relatable field from an accredited college a plus.
- Strong knowledge of the LIHTC program and Fair Housing Laws.
- Experience in the tenant income certification process for the LIHTC program.
- Customer service experience in a related service field. Residential leasing and LIHTC/Affordable housing knowledge preferred.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office 365 including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Exhibit sound judgment, ability to use available resources to research issues, ability to seek guidance and communicate openly with direct supervisor.
- Pay Range: $60,000 - $65,000, plus potential commission
