The Moayedi lab in the Pain Research Center at New York University College of Dentistry is seeking a postdoctoral research scientist to study lingual mechanotransduction and sensation. The lab uses a combination of molecular biology, advanced microscopy, in vivo functional imaging, physiology, and behavior in animal models and humans.
The successful candidate will work independently and resourcefully to accomplish the responsibilities of the position including: rodent orofacial behavior experiments, histology (whole mount & sliced preparations, immunohistochemistry, RNAscope), in vivo and in vitro imaging of neuronal activity and structure (primary cultures and in vivo intact preparations, 2 photon and widefield fluorescent microscopy), electrophysiology, rodent husbandry, and rodent surgery. The candidate will be involved in experimental design, developing protocols as needed, carrying out experiments, data analysis and interpretation, manuscript preparation, presentation at scientific meetings, preparing applications for external funding, training lab members as needed, and performing other duties necessary for the operation of the laboratory.
QualificationsWe seek a highly motivated and creative postdoctoral researcher who holds a PhD in neuroscience or related field to join our team.
In addition, strong laboratory skills, effective written and oral communication, and efficient project management are essential. Experience with rodent behavior, electrophysiology, rodent surgery, and coding (Matlab, Python, R) are highly desirable.
