Position Overview

This project-focused appointment in biochemistry/molecular biophysics will support the research

program of PI:
Dr. Nicholas Reiter. The project will focus on methods associated with protein and nucleic acid purification and characterization, and on implementing analytical methods to quantitate oncoprotein-nucleic acid interactions in solution. Relevant publications from the lab related to this topic include: RNA . 22(8) 1250 (2016), Biochemistry 63 (11): (2024), J. Biological Chemistry 300(9): 107607 (2024).

Duties and Responsibilities

-Carry out research in Analytical Biochemistry, the improvement and optimization of protocols. Design and perform analytical experiments that examine protein-nucleic acid interactions.

-Conduct research at the bench with independence and with senior graduate students, work well with others, and assist undergraduate/graduate students as an active member of the lab. Provide research summaries and reports monthly, help to write manuscripts, and meet regularly with PI to complete lab project goals.

Required Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities

Earned doctorate (or its foreign equivalent) or appropriate terminal degree.
Must possess strong communication and analytical skills; thorough knowledge of laboratory practices and procedures; and the ability to implement research projects. Must be willing to work flexible hours as necessary.
