Job Summary:

The Division of Cardiology within the Department of Medicine at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus invites applications for tenure-track faculty positions. Candidates for Assistant or Associate Professor are encouraged to apply. Applicants must have a Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent degree. We are seeking candidates with significant postdoctoral training or similar experience. The position comes with a competitive start-up package and lab space, protected time for the establishment of an independent research program and mentoring by supportive faculty in the Division of Cardiology.

We seek investigators with demonstrated excellence in research grounded in fundamental mechanistic investigation that leverages molecular, biophysical, cellular and/or organismal insights to inform cardiovascular disease pathogenesis. Areas of interest include but are not limited to cardiovascular metabolism, cardiac signaling and gene regulation, cardio-immunology, cardiac fibrosis, and vascular biology. Research excellence will be weighed more strongly than specific research interests. Our goal is to hire innovative researchers who use modern techniques and approaches to interrogate fundamental mechanistic questions at the molecular, cellular, tissue, and organismal levels.

In addition to the world-class facilities available at the University, the Division of Cardiology possesses a large human heart tissue bank and is supported by extensive shared resources, including Muscle Physiology and Mechanics and Small Animal Cardiovascular Phenotyping and Cores. The ideal candidate will have a vision for leveraging the rich, collaborative environment in the Division to tackle fundamental questions in cardiovascular disease.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and lead an independent cardiovascular research program focused on fundamental mechanistic questions related to cardiovascular disease.
  • Conduct innovative, multidisciplinary research using molecular, biophysical, cellular, tissue, and/or animal models to investigate cardiac and vascular disease mechanisms.
  • Secure extramural research funding through development and submission of competitive grant applications, including NIH and other federal, foundation, and industry-sponsored funding opportunities.
  • Collaborate across the Division and University research community, leveraging shared resources such as the human heart tissue bank, Muscle Physiology and Mechanics Core, and Small Animal Cardiovascular Phenotyping Core.
  • Mentor and develop the next generation of cardiovascular scientists, including mentoring trainees, research staff, graduate students, and junior faculty, while contributing to the Division's academic and research mission.
