Elanco seeks a highly motivated, innovative Research Scientist to join its Discovery Research team. This position focuses on advanced single B-cell sequencing, immune library construction and antibody discovery to identify high-quality therapeutic antibody candidates for animal health applications.
The successful candidate will contribute to capturing and isolating natural immune repertoires from diverse animal species using comprehensive molecular biology and next-generation sequencing workflows.

Key Responsibilities- Lead and execute end-to-end single B-cell antibody discovery workflows.
- Process immune cells and perform FACS-based isolation of antigen-specific B cells.
- Perform single-cell sequencing and high-throughput molecular rescue of paired antibody variable-region sequences.
- Contribute to identification and characterization of promising antibody candidates.
- Design and construct high-diversity immune libraries from immunized animals.
- Develop and implement NGS workflows for library characterization.
- Monitor library diversity and track selection dynamics across display platforms.
- Develop and manage panning and selection strategies using phage display or yeast display.
- Identify rare, high-affinity antibody binders from diverse immune repertoires.
- Evaluate and optimize display-based antibody discovery workflows.
- Perform high-throughput RT-PCR and nested PCR.
- Rescue heavy- and light-chain variable regions from individual B cells.
- Apply specialized molecular cloning techniques for antibody discovery workflows.
- Collaborate with bioinformatics teams to integrate large-scale NGS datasets.
- Analyze antibody repertoires and identify novel antibody lineages.
- Evaluate repertoire convergence and selection dynamics.
- Represent the antibody discovery group in multidisciplinary project teams.
- Communicate discovery strategies, experimental results and technical recommendations to stakeholders.
- Collaborate with scientists across discovery research and related functions.
- Maintain accurate electronic laboratory notebooks and research documentation.
- Present technical findings at internal research forums and stakeholder meetings.
- Contribute to scientific decision-making through clear interpretation of discovery data.
- Evaluate emerging antibody discovery technologies.
- Implement improved workflows to increase throughput, repertoire diversity and functional screening capabilities.
- Contribute to reducing discovery timelines and improving biologics development strategies.
- PhD in Immunology, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology or a closely related discipline.
- 0-3 years of relevant industrial experience in biologics discovery.
- Candidates should have hands‑on experience in:
Single B-cell sequencing workflows, - High-speed flow cytometry/FACS
- NGS library preparation
- Immune library construction
- Phage display or yeast display technologies
- High-throughput PCR
- Molecular cloning
- Antibody discovery workflows
- NGS data analysis and interpretation.
