Position Overview

Green Sage is growing, and we’re looking for a hardworking Café Leader to join our fun, busy, fast-casual café team. This is a full-time, hands-on role for someone who wants to learn every side of the business: front of house, back of house, and full restaurant management.

In this position, you will start by working as a Shift Leader in FOH and a Kitchen Leader in BOH, honing your skills on both sides of the restaurant. Once fully trained, you’ll flex across all three of our Asheville locations (Downtown, South, and Merrimon), stepping in to support and manage stores as needed—including covering for General Managers during vacations or unexpected absences.

This isn’t a role where you learn one position and stay there. It’s a deliberate path toward store leadership, built for someone who wants to understand the business from the ground up.

Core Responsibilities
  • Demonstrating full FOH and BOH operational skills, including serving as a Shift Leader on the floor and a Kitchen Leader on the line
  • Training in all aspects of day-to-day restaurant management across multiple locations, including ordering, inventory management, and staff scheduling
  • Rotating across all three Asheville locations, providing support and gaining experience in different store environments
  • Knowing all our menu items, including their ingredients, recipes, preparations, and potential allergens per house recipes
  • Training, knowledge, and safe use of kitchen and restaurant equipment to perform all FOH and BOH duties
  • Maintaining control, organization, and communication during execution of orders at all times, from intake to delivery
  • Competency in all managerial duties, including: holding keys and alarm codes; performing opening and closing duties; handling cash, nightly deposits, and maintaining the till; and, responsibly using manager PINs, passwords, and software (Toast and Restaurant
    365)
  • Completing all prep, restocking, cleaning, bussing, side work, general upkeep, and opening/closing procedures per company checklists
  • Assist as needed with the following duties: cooking on the line, expediting, food running, dishwashing, order receiving, and other duties as assigned by the General Manager
Position Requirements
  • Flexible schedule with weekend availability
  • Experience as a line cook with FOH customer service/management skills
  • Previous fast-casual, café, or restaurant experience
  • Genuine interest in learning the restaurant business end to end
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced restaurant environment
  • Familiarity with Toast and Restaurant
    365 platforms
  • Reliable transportation, given the multi-location nature of the role
  • A team-first attitude and a desire to meet the needs of every customer
Position Benefits
  • Daytime hours only—no evening shifts required
  • 50% discount on all menu items
  • Free staff meal
  • PTO up to one (1) week per year
  • Health and wellness benefits through Mercy Me
  • $50 shoe voucher
  • Free mental wellness resources through the Employee Assistance Network (EAN)
