Sommelier Position open at Casa Tua

Job Summary

As a key member of the Beverage Team, the Casa Tua sommelier provides memorable guest experiences through actively offering thoughtful wine recommendations, anticipating guest needs, and enhancing the overall dining experience through warm hospitality and salesmanship.

The Casa Tua sommelier collaborates with the FOH service staff, leading wine education and offering guidance, while overseeing daily wine service to ensure consistency and quality. The sommelier assists with inventory management and ensures that the wine list is presentable and accurately reflects offerings and pricing in line with POS. Our wine program offers a unique opportunity to engage with a diverse range of Italian and French wines, featuring renowned labels and artisanal producers.

Casa Tua’s wine program is led by Maddy Jimerson, MS.

Responsibilities

Updates the wine list, ensuring that that it is presentable and accurately reflects offerings and pricing in line with POS. Assists with inventory and cellar management, ensuring accurate stock levels and effective organization of the wine cellar and storage areas Organizes and maintains the wine cellar layout in coordination with the Beverage Director to ensure efficient storage and accessibility. Manages daily wine service, ensuring wines are served at the right temperature and in appropriate glassware.

Conducts wine training and tasting sessions for staff, including wines of the month and wine-by-the-glass options, in collaboration with the Beverage Director. Recommends and pairs wines with food offerings, working with the culinary team to enhance the overall dining experience. Advises guests on wine selections based on their personal tastes and food choices, and provides information about different wine varieties and prices.

Store open bottles properly to maintain their quality and ensure strong taste. Adhere to all health and safety regulations in wine handling and service.

Qualifications

Previous experience as a Sommelier, Wine Steward/Stewardess, or in a similar role (At least 2 years). Ability to create and recommend tasteful food and wine pairings. Extensive knowledge of different wines, wine regions, and the winemaking process. Familiarity with wineries, vineyards and vintages. Excellent communication skills and a passion for delivering exceptional guest service. Availability to work during opening hours, including weekends and holidays.

Flexibility to attend wine-tasting events. Certification as a Sommelier or a degree in hospitality is a plus.

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand for extended periods. Capable of lifting to 50 pounds. Flexibility to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed. Work Environment:
High-energy kitchen setting. Exposure to hot surfaces, sharp objects, and kitchen equipment. Flexible working hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
