Position: Kitchen Aide
Program: Early Childhood Development
Reports to: Nutrition Manager
Status: Part-time, 25-30hours per week, typical hours between 9am-2pm
Schedule: Monday through Friday
Hourly Wage: $16.50-$16.60/hour
Incentive: Eligible for $1000 Sign-On Incentive (to be paid at 90 days and 6 months)
Job Function: Receive food and food supplies, set tables, and serve meals family style at the designated site followed by cleaning of the dining area, as well as the kitchen area fulfilling all sanitation requirements by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Meet delivery personnel to receive food and food supplies and sign daily delivery notices to acknowledge food and food supplies received.
- Record changes on center menu.
- Record temperatures of all hot dishes upon arrival of food. Must record food temperature prior to serving.
- Test bleach with test strips and record sanitize levels on appropriate paper.
Contact Nutrition Manager as needed with any concerning levels. - Maintain appropriate cleanliness of kitchen at alltimes, including but not limited to:
- Must wearclean, neat attire daily and food service gloves
- Keep thekitchen storage area clean and sanitized. Sweep and mop floors daily. Counters kept free of unnecessary items and sanitized both before and after meal preparation.
- Stove,refrigerator, and freezers kept clean inside and out. Proper functioning of appliances is to be monitored by all kitchen staff daily.
- Maintain proper storage of food and supplies to avoid spoilage and ensure efficient rotation of food stock.
- Ensure disposal of garbage and recyclables daily.
- Assistin the preparation of daily snack as needed.
- Wash dishes, silverware, serving dishes, glasses, pans, and carriers, etc.
- Maintain inventory of food and supplies on a regular basis.
- Contact Nutrition Manager for any general work concerns.
- Work closely with the teaching staff, parent volunteers, and children.
- Follow appropriate CACFP guidelines, OCFS Daycare regulations, and Head Start performance standards, as applicable.
- Must attend required training and all requested staff or community meetings.
- Musthave the ability to adapt to last-minute staff and daily schedule adjustments.
- Must follow agency procedures for reporting suspected child abuse and neglect.
- Assist with classroom coverage and teaching staff breaks as needed.
- Maybe re-assigned to alternate locations throughout the Program to provide supportas needed. Assignments may be temporary or long-term dependent on Program-need.

Education and/or ExperienceHigh school diploma orgeneral education degree (GED); or one or more years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have knowledge of health and preparation practices in food service.
Certificates, Licenses, RegistrationsCertification in Food Service preferred. NYS Driver's License preferred. Clearance through the NYSMaltreatment Registry. Must complete Dare Care regulation trainings as required.
Other QualificationsPhysical Examination, TB Testing upon hire. Comprehensive background check, including fingerprinting for criminal background per the standards set forth by child care licensing. Must be able to travel to all program and Agency sites, training, visits, etc. as necessary and requested.
