Joe Coffee is looking for curious and committed Baristas in Training (BITs) to join our Columbia University campus cafes for the upcoming busy season. If you're excited to learn about specialty coffee, develop your craft, and grow into a certified Joe Coffee Barista, we'd love to meet you. This is a great opportunity for individuals who enjoy working in a fast-paced, community-centered environment and are eager to build new skills while delivering exceptional hospitality.

The ideal candidate is eager to learn about coffee, motivated to develop their skills, and passionate about delivering warm, thoughtful customer service. Strong candidates are reliable, friendly, fast-paced, and thrive as part of a collaborative team environment.

Compensation $17 per hour + tips

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver welcoming, inclusive, and attentive customer service that reflects Joe Coffee’s hospitality standards
  • Accurately operate the POS system, including order entry, cash handling, and payment processing
  • Prepare non-espresso beverages and food items according to company recipes and quality standards (drip coffee, cold brew, tea, matcha, seasonal drinks, etc.)
  • Maintain cafe cleanliness, organization, and food safety by following established cleaning and sanitation standards
  • Actively participate in training, coaching, and feedback to build skills and prepare for full barista certification
