POSITION

SUMMARY

The Server ensures all guests receive the highest standards of hospitality and are served to the community standards in the dining areas. This position greets and guides residents, and supports food and beverage operations in a friendly, timely and efficient manner. The Server demonstrates our Core Values:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position will be responsible for, but not limited to the following essential duties and responsibilities:

Serving:
  • Provide the highest quality of service to customers at all times.
  • Greet residents and engage with them in a friendly manner. Respond to inquiries and provide assistance.
  • Promptly greet guests as they are seated and serve ice water, coffee, rolls, or butter to guests
  • Present menus, special items of the day, and any menu changes. Ask about any food allergies or dietary restrictions.
  • Record food and beverage orders on notepads or on POS system. Ensure special requirements are recorded.
  • Serve food and beverage to the guests as per the course of order. Observe and ensure satisfaction with service.
  • Maintain proper dining experience (deliver items, fulfill customer needs, offer dessert and drinks, replenish utensils, refill glasses, etc.).
  • Set tables with clean linens, condiments, or other supplies. Stock cabinets or serving areas with condiments and refill condiment containers.
  • Remove used tableware between courses and provide tableware for next course.
  • Coordinate with bus person and/or kitchen staff to ensure smooth operation.
  • When possible assist in washing/loading dishes in the station dishwasher. Perform basic cleaning tasks as needed, or as directed by supervisor.
  • May perform or act as a Host or Hostess if needed.
  • Promptly clean table tops, chairs, booths, and the floor under and around tables between for the next shift.
  • Obtain service area assignments at the beginning & end of each shift.
  • Attend pre-shift meetings and training.
  • Assist other servers and areas of dining (answer telephones, Take Out transactions, catering services)
  • Help residents as needed (seating, standing, retrieving walkers, etc.)
  • May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Training and Policy Adherence:
  • Ensure compliance with various licensing and regulatory agencies, including but not limited to:
    Santa Clara County Department of Health, CDPH, CDSS, CalOSHA, etc.
  • Attend all allergy and food-borne illness in-service training.
  • CPR and choking training.
  • Report all accidents and injuries in a timely manner.
  • Participate in regular safety meetings, safety training and hazard assessments.
