The Canopy by Hilton Grand Rapids Downtown is looking for a Restaurant Utility Person/Dishwasher to support back-of-house kitchen operations and maintain cleanliness at Portico - the hotel's on-site cafe! The Utility position is responsible for ensuring the cleanliness of washable items (trays, bowls, plates, cups, glasses, silverware, etc.) and dish room area in order to maintain the hotel's standards of quality and sanitation. Helps with set up/tear down for functions in catering department as well as general cleaning duties.

• Clean and sanitize dishes, utensils, pots, pans, and other kitchen equipment using commercial dishwashing machines and manual methods.
• Maintain cleanliness of kitchen areas, including floors, counters, and equipment.
• Practice “clean as you go” method to maintain all areas in accordance with health and safety standards.
• Properly dispose of kitchen waste and recyclables. Ensure garbage bins are emptied regularly and kept clean.
• Help with receiving and storing kitchen supplies and food deliveries. Ensure items are properly labeled and stored.
• Assist serving staff with clearing and cleaning tables in the dining area, ensuring that all dishes, utensils, and glassware are promptly removed and taken to the kitchen for washing.
• Work closely with management, kitchen staff and front-of-house personnel to ensure efficient operations offering support where needed to maintain a smooth workflow.
• Adhere to all hotel policies, health and safety regulations, and food handling guidelines.
• Attend meetings/training as required by management.
• Performs any other duties as requested by supervisor

• High School diploma/GED or equivalent experience required.
• Previous experience in a similar role is preferred but not required.
