Sushi Helper Responsibilities

• Assist Sushi Chefs with daily food preparation and sushi station setup.

• Prepare ingredients used for sushi, including rice, vegetables, garnishes, sauces, and other components.

• Assist with preparing sushi items such as maki, nigiri, and sashimi under the direction of a Sushi Chef.

• Portion, organize, label, and properly store ingredients according to food safety and quality standards.

• Prepare sushi rice, including cooking, seasoning, cooling, and holding it properly for service.

• Assist with adding appropriate garnishes, sauces, and accompaniments such as ginger, wasabi, and soy sauce.

• Follow recipes, portion standards, and presentation guidelines to ensure consistent food quality.

• Assist with preparing appetizers, soups, salads, and other menu items as assigned.

• Communicate with Sushi Chefs and other kitchen team members regarding guest modifications, special requests, and food allergies.

• Monitor ingredient levels and notify the Sushi Chef or manager when products need to be restocked.

• Keep the sushi station clean, organized, and properly stocked throughout the shift.

• Follow all food safety, sanitation, personal hygiene, and cross-contamination prevention procedures.

• Properly clean and sanitize equipment, utensils, cutting boards, work surfaces, and the sushi station at the end of the shift.

• Assist with additional kitchen preparation and cleaning responsibilities as needed.

• Work efficiently and accurately in a fast-paced restaurant environment.

• Previous sushi experience required.

• Sushi or Asian restaurant experience is a plus.

• Willingness to learn sushi preparation techniques and food presentation standards.

• Ability to follow recipes, instructions, and food safety procedures.

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.

• Ability to work quickly, accurately, and as part of a team.

• Ability to maintain a clean and organized work area.

• Availability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
