The Shift Lead supports Kress Food Hall operations based on business needs and placement. The Shift Lead is a working leader who supports daily operations by directing assigned employees during scheduled shifts, completing opening and closing responsibilities, handling routine employee and guest situations, and maintaining Kress Food Hall standards. The role works from schedules, labor plans, policies, and direction established by the Director of F&B Operations or designated management and remains eligible for overtime in accordance with applicable law.
- Lead floor execution during assigned opening, operating, and closing shifts under established management direction.
- Confirm scheduled employees are present, in position, and prepared for service, and promptly report call-offs and coverage concerns to management.
- Assign stations, breaks, side work, cleaning responsibilities, and immediate shift tasks within the approved schedule and labor plan.
- Monitor service flow, cleanliness, guest areas, shared spaces, and employee adherence to established operating standards.
- Handle routine employee questions and workplace situations on behalf of management during the assigned shift.
- Complete opening and closing checklists, facility walkthroughs, alarm and access procedures, equipment checks, and required shift documentation.
- Support cash-handling, deposit preparation, key control, and closing verification as assigned by management.
- Document incidents, employee concerns, maintenance issues, and unresolved guest matters for management follow-up.
- Assist with employee training, checklist completion, and reinforcement of established policies and procedures.
- Execute the posted schedule and approved labor plan and do not independently create or publish employee schedules.
- Do not independently change wage rates, approve overtime, hire, terminate, issue formal discipline, or conduct formal performance evaluations.
- Do not independently establish labor budgets or staffing models; report operating needs and request management direction.
- Provide factual shift observations and documentation to support management review and follow-up.
- Provide visible leadership and professional guest recovery during assigned shifts.
- Follow food safety, health, responsible alcohol service, emergency, security, and company requirements.
- Escalate safety, security, harassment, discrimination, injury, significant cash, or serious conduct matters immediately.
- Protect confidential employee, guest, operational, and financial information.
- Work mornings, afternoons, evenings, late nights, weekends, holidays, private events, opening shifts, closing shifts, and flexible schedules as needed.
- Adapt to changing business volume, staffing levels, special events, seasonal demand, and operating needs.
- Maintain reliability, punctuality, and readiness to support the operation throughout assigned shifts.
- One or more years of restaurant, bar, food hall, hotel, retail, or hospitality leadership experience preferred.
- Food Handler certification and TABC certification required before working independently in applicable areas.
- Basic proficiency with POS, cash-handling, and shift-reporting systems preferred.
- Strong guest-service, communication, organization, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Ability to follow established procedures and provide clear direction during fast-paced shifts.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and move throughout a high-volume, multi-level hospitality environment.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull items up to 25 pounds, with reasonable accommodation when applicable.
