Minimum Position Qualifications
  • Knowledge of basic math
  • Ability to fully complete the cashier training program
  • Ability to memorize produce items and sale items
  • Effective communication and reading skills
  • Must be 18 years old

Essential Job Functions
  • Process customer transactions through the check lane quickly, accurately, and efficiently; understand the Point of Sale system; handle tenders such as cash, checks, credit, debit, SNAP EBT, Offline SNAP EBT, WIC, loyalty offers, coupons, and checkout procedures according to company policy.
  • Rotate all merchandise according to code‑dating policies; check product quality to ensure freshness; review sell‑by dates and take appropriate action.
  • Promote trust and respect among team members.
  • Create an environment where customers feel welcome, important, and appreciated by answering product questions.
  • Maintain knowledge of products sold and respond to customer questions with suggestions.
  • Greet, engage and assist customers.
  • Inform customers of grocery specials.
  • Order, label, stock and inventory merchandise.
  • Report product ordering, shipping, and pricing discrepancies to store management.
  • Understand and adhere to the company’s limits on cash shortages and/or overages; work honestly and effectively to control loss.
  • Adhere to guidelines on restricted sales items (e.g., Alcohol, Tobacco, and Fireworks).
  • Stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads.
  • Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
  • Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers are maintained and temperature logs are kept.
  • Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and identify unsafe conditions, notifying store management.
  • Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notifying store management of items needing repair.
  • Notify management of customer or employee accidents.
  • Adhere to all local, state and federal laws and company guidelines.
  • Physical demands include standing most of the time, lifting up to 50 lbs., pushing/pulling carts and skids, bending, twisting, squatting, turning, climbing a ladder or stool, manual dexterity, and repetitive hand/wrist motion.
  • Work cooperatively in a high‑paced and sometimes stressful environment.
  • Manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational, and cooperative manner.
  • Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
  • Follow directions and seek assistance when necessary to resolve customer and business issues.
  • Provide support and assistance through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
  • Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
