The Retail Store Manager in Training (MIT) will complete a comprehensive training program at one of our training locations. The program prepares the MIT for a full‑time Store Manager role through hands‑on experience in all aspects of our Retail Operations, including key positions, policies, procedures, and management techniques. Upon successful completion, the MIT will transition into a full‑time Store Manager, responsible for their own Retail Store location.

• Develop and execute retail operations plans to achieve daily, monthly, quarterly, and yearly goals for operating income, revenue, and production.
• Coordinate with the Retail District Manager to develop and implement strategic plans that drive donations.
• Monitor product levels (floor work, as‑is, recycle, trash, seasonal back stock) daily to meet sales budgets and targets.
• Manage payroll and operating costs to stay within budget.
• Ensure Team Members deliver excellent customer service to donors and customers, and that store locations are clean, well‑kept, and reflect the Goodwill brand.
• Partner with community businesses and organizations to promote the Goodwill mission.
• Maintain regular in‑person attendance and act as a Goodwill ambassador to the community.
• Train and develop Team Members, ensuring Donation Attendants and Production Team members meet company standards and store goals.
• Conduct performance management (coaching, discipline, improvement plans, annual reviews), staffing, compensation, and development for the Team.
• Assist the Assistant Store Manager in managing associate performance.
• Participate in company culture change efforts and change management processes.

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Two years of retail management experience (preferably in thrift).
• One year of customer service experience.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to pass background check and drug screening where applicable.
• English speaking and reading proficiency.
