** As a Sushi Clerk at Hy-Vee, you'll be a key part of our Hy-Chi department, helping fill customer orders, prepare fresh product, and keep the department running smoothly every day. ** What You'll Do
** No two shifts are exactly the same, but here's what you can expect:
* Deliver outstanding customer service by greeting customers warmly, learning their names, and going the extra mile to make every visit a positive one
* Take customer orders at the counter and over the phone, and assist customers with finding products, reaching items, and carrying heavy purchases
* Review daily orders and monitor product freshness, appearance, and supply levels throughout your shift
* Prepare, finish, and replenish product as needed, pulling items from the cooler or freezer for preparation
* Follow and maintain proper sanitation procedures, keeping your work area clean and organized at all times
* Check in product, put product away, label and date items accurately, and remove trash promptly
* Anticipate daily product needs and follow or develop a production list to stay ahead
* Order product and supplies as necessary
* Work alongside your teammates to ensure a smooth, positive experience for every customer
* Maintain compliance with Hy-Vee's dress code, hygiene standards, and all company policies
* Assist in other store areas and take on special projects as needed
* You'll receive direction and support from:
Store Director, Store Manager, Assistant Managers of Store Operations, Perishables, and Health Wellness Home, Food Service Director, Hy-Chi Department Manager, Assistant Hy-Chi Department Manager, and Service Managers
** Your Skills
** To be successful in this role, you'll need to be able to:
* Follow written and verbal instructions with confidence
* Use basic math skills for simple addition, subtraction, counting, and recording
* Communicate clearly with customers and teammates in a friendly, helpful way
* Stay organized and keep up with the pace of a busy department
* High school diploma or equivalent required;
Food Safety Certification required; six months or more of similar or related experience preferred

** Physical Requirements
*** Frequently stand and walk throughout a shift in sales, food service, or delivery areas
* Where applicable to the role: ability to safely use sharp knives and blades for food preparation
* Where applicable to the role: exposure to heat- and burn-related hazards associated with cooking, baking, or grilling equipment
* Where applicable to the role: ability to operate a delivery vehicle in accordance with applicable DOT standards
* Perform repetitive standing, walking, reaching, and bending associated with order fulfillment, POS transactions, and cleaning/sanitation duties
