As a Sales Engineer you will be responsible for generating a forecasted sales/gross margin and managing all aspects of sales and customer service in a specific assigned territory and accounts. The Sales Engineer also develops and nurtures relationships with account decision makers to influence purchasing decisions and maximize IPEG’s competitive position. You will be seen as a "solutions provider" by our customers.
WhatYou’ll Do
- Conduct product presentations and demonstrations to enhance the knowledge and product awareness of current and potential customers
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with new and existing clients in the oil & gas industry
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities for facility construction, rotating equipment, skid packages, and electrical/automation services
- Conduct site visits and client meetings to understand project needs and provide tailored solutions
- Coordinate with internal project managers, engineering, and field teams to ensure successful project execution
- Establish rapport and engage in joint sales calls with manufacturers IPEG represents in the marketplace
- Attend and participate in sales and other company meetings as required
- Maintain a high knowledge level of products, processes, and the latest industry trends
- Entertain customers and/or vendors, including after‑hours, to strengthen relationships
- Other duties may be assigned.
- Engineering or technical degree and/or rotating equipment experience preferred
- Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and CRM software (Selltis a plus)
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Influential customer‑service skills and the ability to build relationships
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently
- Ability to work independently and as an active member of a team
- Customer‑centric focus (internal and external customers)
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite and CRM/Selltis experience preferred
- Comfortable making cold calls and speaking with people
- Mechanical aptitude with an understanding of rotating equipment, oil & gas, fabrication/manufacturing of equipment, and machine‑shop practices preferred
- Ability to travel 20% of the time
- Ability to interpret industry standards
