What You’ll Do
- Lead the execution of complex commercial and industrial energy transactions from start to finish, including PPAs, ground and rooftop leases, and value-share agreements across different energy solutions.
- Own the transaction process with support from the Senior Director, managing everything from initial client conversations and RFPs to developer selection and final agreements.
- Coordinate project workflows, resolve transaction challenges, and build strong relationships with customers and developer partners to deliver successful outcomes.
- Engage senior stakeholders at Fortune 500 companies, including leaders in energy, sustainability, finance, procurement, real estate, and C-suite executives such as CFOs.
- Prepare persuasive presentations and communications that clearly explain transaction value, risks, and recommendations.
- Maintain credibility with developer counter parties by understanding market terms across solar, BESS, and fuel cell structures, and identifying when proposed terms are not aligned with market standards.
- Translate client needs into practical transaction structures and help clients understand developer constraints in commercially workable terms.
- Act as a trusted expert in distributed generation energy markets by staying current on policy updates, market trends, and incentive programs.
- Mentor analyst and associate-level team members on analysis, client communication, and transaction support.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, engineering, energy, or a related field.
- 8+ years of energy industry experience, with significant exposure to commercial transactions, origination, or deal execution.
- Proven experience personally owning and closing energy transactions end-to-end.
- Direct experience with one or more structures such as PPAs, ESAs, ground leases, rooftop leases, or other distributed generation contracts.
- Experience leading contract negotiations with sophisticated counter parties, including commercial term structuring and legal review.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple active deals or work streams across cross-functional teams.
- Experience working with senior corporate stakeholders in energy, sustainability, finance, procurement, or real estate functions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical and commercial topics clearly to non-technical audiences.
- Experience in distributed generation, including solar, storage, BESS, or fuel cells, in an origination, commercial, or development role.
- Working knowledge of utility tariffs, interconnection processes, state incentives, and policy trends across multiple U.S. markets.
- Familiarity with project finance concepts and developer-side economics for distributed generation deals.
- MBA or another advanced degree.
- Distributed generation development, especially solar, storage, or BESS, in origination or commercial roles.
- Corporate energy procurement with proven contract execution experience.
- Renewable energy origination or structured energy sales.
- Energy project finance or investment banking with client-facing responsibilities.
- Power markets or energy infrastructure commercialization.
- Builds credibility quickly with senior clients and counter parties.
- Identifies key transaction issues early, including load profile, interconnection, attrition, and financing risks.
- Handles challenging questions from sophisticated stakeholders with confidence and clarity.
- Comfortable with cold outreach, executive meetings, and negotiation calls.
- Works well in ambiguity and keeps transactions moving even with incomplete information.
- Makes sound judgment calls, communicates risks early, and adapts when conditions change.
- Proactive, ambitious, commercially sharp, and focused on outcomes.
- Strong relationship manager who handles sensitive client and counter party discussions professionally.
- Collaborative team player who coordinates effectively across deals, accounts, and business functions.
