Apartment leasing agents typically handle a mix of sales, customer service, marketing, and administrative duties. Common responsibilities include:
Show apartments to prospective residents and explain floor plans, amenities, pricing, policies, and community features. Respond to inquiries by phone, email, website leads, and walk-ins. Qualify prospective residents by discussing their housing needs, budget, move-in date, and application requirements. Conduct property tours and highlight community amenities and benefits. Follow up with prospects to encourage applications and lease conversions. Process rental applications, including collecting required documentation and coordinating screening.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED — typically the minimum educational requirement. Customer service experience — experience in customer service, hospitality, retail, sales, or property management is highly valued. Sales ability — comfortable presenting apartments, explaining benefits, overcoming objections, and closing leases. Strong communication skills — professional verbal, written, phone, and email communication. Organizational skills — able to manage applications, leases, appointments, follow-ups, and resident records accurately.

Computer skills — familiarity with Microsoft Office, email, CRM systems, and property-management software.
