** Opportunity Overview
** Join a mission-driven team supporting the development and execution of transformative health research programs focused on human physiology systems, bioengineering, transplantation, and regenerative medicine. In this role, you will partner with ARPA-H leadership to evaluate emerging technologies, shape high-impact R&D initiatives, and advance innovative approaches that improve health outcomes. The position requires a strong scientific foundation, strategic thinking, and the ability to bridge basic science, engineering, clinical practice, and operational implementation.

The successful candidate will provide technical expertise, program management support, and technology assessments across a portfolio of cutting-edge programs related to tissue and organ preservation, manufacturing, and transplantation.
** Key Responsibilities
*** Provide technical and strategic support for programs involving tissue and organoid manufacturing, organ preservation, ex vivo organ perfusion, diagnostics, and transplantation technologies.
* Evaluate emerging technologies for scientific merit, translational feasibility, manufacturability, and potential clinical adoption.
* Conduct technology landscape assessments, competitive analyses, and technical due diligence on performers, vendors, and scientific developments.
* Assess innovations within the broader transplant ecosystem, including organ procurement organizations, transplant centers, and regulatory stakeholders.
* Monitor scientific, clinical, regulatory, and market trends relevant to human physiology systems and transplantation.
* Review technical proposals, program deliverables, milestones, risks, and performer submissions, providing recommendations and decision-support materials.
* Identify and engage subject-matter experts, research performers, test and evaluation partners, and transition stakeholders across academia, industry, healthcare, and government.
* Support program management activities, including technical meetings, site visits, schedule tracking, progress assessments, and executive briefings.
* Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams to advance ambitious, high-impact research initiatives.
** Required Qualifications
*** PhD in physiology, systems biology, bioengineering, tissue engineering, regenerative medicine, or a related field; or MD with significant experience in transplantation, organ preservation, transplant surgery, transplant medicine, or a closely related discipline.
* Demonstrated expertise in at least one of the following areas: organ preservation, ex vivo organ perfusion and diagnostics, transplant biology, regenerative medicine, or translational bioengineering.
* Ability to critically evaluate technical data, research plans, and technology development pathways.
* Experience synthesizing complex scientific information into clear written and visual products for technical and leadership audiences.
* Experience supporting complex R&D programs involving academic, clinical, and/or industry stakeholders.
* Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills with the ability to work across multidisciplinary teams.
* Ability to obtain a federal government Public Trust clearance.
* U.S. citizenship.
** Preferred Qualifications
*** Direct clinical, translational, or operational experience in transplantation, donor organ recovery, preservation, allocation, or implantation.
* Experience working with organizations such as HRSA, OPTN/UNOS, organ procurement organizations, transplant centers, tissue banks, or organ recovery networks.
* Knowledge of the operational, regulatory, and policy landscape of the U.S. transplant ecosystem.
* Experience with organ perfusion technologies used for organ assessment, preservation, repair, or treatment.
* Understanding of commercialization and technology transition challenges, including manufacturing scale-up, quality systems, reimbursement considerations, regulatory requirements, and clinical adoption.
* Experience supporting programs that require coordination across government, industry, clinical, and academic sectors.
