This position involves supervising officers, maintaining safe inmate movement, and overseeing daily security activities throughout the institution. You will support orderly operations by guiding staff, reviewing activities, and responding to concerns. As a Corrections Officer 3, you will perform the following duties:
- Staff Supervision: Direct and evaluate subordinate officers to ensure compliance with policies and procedures
- Security Oversight: Organize daily schedules and monitor inmate movements during work, recreation, and meal periods
- Facility Monitoring: Conduct tours, observe inmate behavior, and report notable changes or concerns
- Transport Management: Oversee inmate transports, visitor searches, and vehicle inspections to prevent contraband and escape
- Incident Review: Investigate policy violations, recommend discipline, and participate in fact-finding sessions
- Record Maintenance: Prepare and submit required reports related to inmate activities, staff performance, and movement records

Work Schedule and Additional Information:- Full-time employment
- Work schedule is to be determined. Selected applicant will work a 40-hour work week with rotating days off.
- This position is eligible for retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
- Telework:You will not have the option to telework in this position.

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year as a Corrections Officer 2 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- Four years of experience in corrections security work in a Pennsylvania state or county corrections facility. (
Note:
Persons seeking employment under this option will be required to successfully complete, or have completed, a training program conducted by the Department of Corrections.)
- PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
- You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
