The Jailer is responsible for the safe, secure, and humane confinement of inmates within the City of Bartlett jail facility. They oversee the daily operations and ensure the welfare of inmates while maintaining the facility's security protocols.
Essential Job Functions:- Jailers are responsible for taking custody of individuals received from any lawful agency.
- Duties include searching, photographing, fingerprinting, data entry, and processing incoming inmates.
- Following intake, jailers are responsible for ongoing care, supervision, and custody monitoring of inmates in accordance with Tennessee State Law and Bartlett Police Department policies.
- This position requires working in a secure correctional environment and interacting professionally with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- High School Diploma or GED Equivalency.
- Must 18 years of age.
- No criminal record.
Experience:
- Ability to read and interpret documents.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Basic typing and computer proficiency.
- A valid Tennessee driver’s license is required.
- Must be able to drive and hold a valid Driver’s license that must remain valid as condition of continued employment.
- Must be able to work any shift, including days, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.
- Must successfully pass a background and driver’s license check, a psychological exam, and a physical exam, including a drug screen.
