position summary

under general supervision, provides security for patients, employees, and visitors; protects hospital buildings, assets, and premises as assigned; and to do other work as required.

position qualifications

any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way would be:

education

post high school vocation with specialized training is desirable.

experience

minimum of one (1) year of experience in law enforcement or private security/contract agency desired.

licensure/certification

possession of an appropriate valid california driver’s license.

guard card issued by the state of california

current bls through aha required within 60 days of hire/transfer

employees must maintain a driving record, which meets the insurability requirements of physicians for healthy hospitals, inc.

this position requires some holidays & weekends.

knowledge & abilities

knowledge of:

• security systems, procedures and enforcement codes.
• modern office methods and procedures

ability to:

• understand, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, standards, and procedures.
• secure cooperation of department heads in accepting and carrying out sound security management practices.
• keep abreast of developments in the field of security administration.
• communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
• participate a professional assault response training
• participate in the international association for health care security and safety “iahass”

manage emergency or crisis situations; requires judgment/action which could result in undesirable patient outcomes.
