POSITION SUMMARY DEFINITION
Under general supervision, provides security for patients, employees, and visitors; protects hospital buildings, assets, and premises as assigned; and to do other work as required.
CLASS CHARACTERISTICS POSITION QUALIFICATIONSAny combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way would be:
Education
Post high school vocation with specialized training is desirable.
ExperienceMinimum of one (1) year of experience in law enforcement or private security/contract agency desired.
Licensure/CertificationPossession of an appropriate valid California driver’s license.
Guard Card issued by the State of California
Current BLS through AHA required within 60 days of hire/transfer
Employees must maintain a driving record, which meets the insurability requirements of Physicians for Healthy Hospitals, Inc.
This position REQUIRES some Holidays & Weekends. KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIESKnowledge of:
Security systems, procedures and enforcement codes.
Modern office methods and procedures
Ability to:
Understand, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, standards, and procedures.
Secure cooperation of department heads in accepting and carrying out sound security management practices.
Keep abreast of developments in the field of security administration.
Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Participate a Professional Assault Response Training
Participate in the International Association for Health Care Security and Safety “IAHASS”
Manage emergency or crisis situations; requires judgment/action which could result in undesirable patient outcomes.
