Public Safety Officer Fulltime​/Eve . Shift

POSITION SUMMARY

Under general supervision, provides security for patients, employees, and visitors; protects hospital buildings, assets, and premises as assigned; and to do other work as required.

Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way would be:

• Post high school vocation with specialized training is desirable.

• Minimum of one (1) year of experience in law enforcement or private security/contract agency desired.

• Possession of an appropriate valid California driver's license.
• Guard Card issued by the State of California
• Current BLS through AHA required within 60 days of hire/transfer
• Employees must maintain a driving record, which meets the insurability requirements of Physicians for Healthy Hospitals, Inc.

This position requires Weekends and/or Holidays

Knowledge of:

• Security systems, procedures and enforcement codes.
• Modern office methods and procedures

Ability to:

• Understand, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, standards, and procedures.
• Secure cooperation of department heads in accepting and carrying out sound security management practices.
• Keep abreast of developments in the field of security administration.
• Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
• Participate a Professional Assault Response Training
• Participate in the International Association for Health Care Security and Safety "IAHASS"

Manage emergency or crisis situations; requires judgment/action which could result in undesirable patient outcomes.
