Detention Officer

Salary: $25.40 per hour

• Supervise, secure, control, and care for inmates in the Detention Facility; comply with all established policies, rules, memos, and procedures; maintain discipline and order among inmates; and prevent disturbances and escapes.
• Provide impartial evaluation of inmates; cope with hostile and aggressive behaviors; maintain a calm demeanor in stressful situations; and seek cooperation from individuals with varied backgrounds.

• To become P.O.S.T certified in the State of Montana, all applicants must be at least 18 years of age,
• Must possess a high school diploma or GED Certificate and must possess the ability to attend the Montana Law Enforcement Academy and successfully pass the Detention Basic Course within one year of hire.
• Must pass C-PAT test, Mental Health test, and a Physical done by a Physician.
• Must pass a background check with a clear criminal history, have a valid Montana Driver License and successfully complete a 12 week F.T.O program.
• Must possess the ability to understand and follow laws, policies, procedures, and orders; the ability to maintain effective working relationships; and to utilize skills in control techniques to physically subdue an inmate.
