The Blinn College District is searching for a Part Time Building / Camera Monitor at our Brenham Campus.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities are listed below:

Toprovide crime prevention duties and general assistance to Visitors, Students,Faculty and Staff.

• Works mostly night and weekend assigned shifts. Monitor all Blinn College District Cameras to provide pro-active and reactive monitoring of cameras to assist with detection of crime, antisocial behavior and to support the reduction of crime, disorder, and the fear of crime.
• Report all suspicious activity to Blinn Police and Hall Directors via phone and radio
• Perform equipment checks to verify all cameras are broadcasting and all video storage facilities are online and functioning.
• Properly storing footage, cataloging so it can easily be recalled at a later time.
• Keep accurate detailed written logs.
• Make regular rounds in dormitories assigned.
• Greet and assist all students, faculty, staff and visitors. Provide customer service assistance and building monitoring during special events and activities.
• Provide crime prevention information, when observed to Blinn Police.
• Contribute to the overall safety of the students, faculty, staff, and visitors and follow all facility and building rules, policies and procedures. Be able to answer general questions about events and activities occurring in the Blinn Campus buildings.
• Possess a thorough knowledge of the Brenham Campus and be able to guide students, faculty, and/or visitors to the appropriate classroom, office and/or department. Blinn Campus familiarity training will be provided.
• Perform opening and closing tasks (locking and unlocking building and check working order of all equipment and doors). Report any incident of injury, theft, or broken equipment to proper authorities.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

High school diploma or equivalent

• Ability to work with and communicate well with all segments of the college, including visitors, students, faculty, staff, outside vendors or contractors, and the general public.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
  - Able to articulate statements topolice officers, communicate with emergency services, testify in court.
• Abilityto complete assigned task with limited supervision.
• Abilityto operate and monitor security camera system, along with operating apolice radio.
• Possess good customer service experience.
• Stateof Texas C driver license.
• Abilityto walk dormitory hallways and report suspicious activities to proper authorities.
• Abilityto quickly identify patterns and abnormalities and suspicious activity.
• Strong computer skills to include Microsoft Office Software to include Word,Excel and Outlook.
  
  Ability to enter incidents and reports into college software system.
• Abilityto function during minor stressful situations.
• Abilityto stay calm.
• Abilityto stay focused and concentrate for long periods of time and have excellent observational skills.
• Strong attention to detail - must be able to identify small, seemingly insignificant details that most people would overlook.
• Abilityto multi-task.
• Abilityto work independently.
• Abilityto work flexible hours primarily nights and weekends.

• Telecommunications or peace officer TCOLE certification

• Previous experience as a security guard or building monitor.
• Surveillance system knowledge and understanding.

Due to the security and confidentiality, this is a non-student position.

Works hours will be Saturday and Sunday 10:00 PM to 7:00 AM while school is in session.

Be in good physical condition.

Ability to bend, reach above shoulder, simple grasping, duel simultaneous grasping, stoop, climb stairs and ladders, crawling, stretching, twisting of upper body, walking, sitting, kneeling, pushing.

Ability to operate mechanical equipment, office equipment and a motor vehicle.

Ability to see, identify colors, hear {with aid} writing, counting, reading and telling time.

Ability to lift up to 15 pounds.
