** Description of Work
** Reporting to and working closely with a Correctional Captain II, this position provides supervision of subordinate staff, conducts shift line-up, makes shift assignments, and inspects personnel to determine if they are physically and mentally capable of assuming an assigned post. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Conducting investigations and performing searches of persons, places, and objects.
- Completing, reviewing, and maintaining time reports, duty rosters, leave schedules, performance evaluations, and administrative forms.
- Performing security inspections of the facility and grounds. Monitoring posts to ascertain that officers are alert, discipline is being maintained, and assignments are carried out properly.
- Performing rescue functions to include CPR, basic first aid, physically removing people from dangerous areas, and using fire-fighting equipment, such as fire hoses, extinguishers, and breathing apparatuses.  - Identifying training needs and coordinating delivery of training to subordinate staff.
- Accounting for persons and funds to insure that all equipment is operational and ready for use.
- Serving as the Officer-In-Charge in the absence of the Correctional Captain II.
