Job Description
This is a high-volume Welcome Center and logistics position with security and access-control responsibilities. Approximately 90% of the role involves computer-based logistics, driver processing, documentation, and administrative work, while approximately 10% involves traditional security-related duties. This role may not be the right fit if you are primarily looking for a traditional security position focused on patrols, surveillance, or physical security.
This position serves as the primary point of contact for truck drivers entering and exiting our facility and plays a critical role in maintaining the efficient flow of transportation while ensuring site security and access control standards are met. Successful candidates must be comfortable working in a dynamic environment where attention to detail, strong communication skills, and independent decision-making are essential.
ResponsibilitiesTruck Processing and Logistics Support – 24/7 Operations
Check, verify and enter driver information accurately before granting access or releasing assets to warehouse and drop lot facilities via warehouse management, access control, and tracking systems.
Coordinate with warehouse personnel, transportation providers, dispatchers, and facility personnel regarding truck arrivals, departures, and trailer movements.
Maintain accurate electronic and written logs, including identifying and reporting issues or irregularities in transportation activity.
Monitor security cameras, access control systems, alarms, and other security-related equipment.
Respond to and report security incidents, safety concerns, unauthorized attempts, emergencies, and suspicious activity through logs, and security documentation in a timely and accurate manner.
Conduct scheduled foot and vehicle compliance patrols of warehouse facilities, trailer yards, parking lots, buildings, perimeter fencing, and offsite drop lot locations.
Identify and report security vulnerabilities, safety hazards, maintenance concerns, or policy violations.
Answer telephones and provide professional assistance to drivers, carriers, employees, and visitors.
Maintain confidentiality of company information and transportation data.
Complete required reports and documentation before the end of each shift.
Communicate clearly and professionally while enforcing facility rules, transportation requirements, and security procedures, which may include difficult conversations involving delays, access restrictions, or transportation issues.
Maintain a customer-service-oriented approach while balancing operational and security requirements.
Remain attentive and productive throughout the shift while balancing computer work, driver interactions, and security patrol responsibilities during day, night, weekend, and holiday shifts.
Demonstrate reliability, accountability, professionalism, and integrity in a highly visible and operationally critical role.
High School Diploma or GED required.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume transportation and warehouse environment.
Strong computer and data entry skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and web-based software systems.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to multitask while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and make sound decisions with limited supervision.
Ability to work rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required.
Must be able to be on your feet for 8-12 hours per shift.
