Boone Quarry – Rogers Group – Verona, KY is a Full Time position with mid-shift hours approximately 4 pm – 2 am, with overtime as needed. Typical work week is Monday - Friday, but the selected candidate will need to be flexible and work weekends as needed. Starting pay for this position will be set at $36/hr (base pay $34/hr plus $2/hr shift differential).
Overall pay will be determined based on the candidate’s experience and skill set.
The role is for an experienced Heavy Equipment Mechanic for our underground and surface operation in Verona, KY. Boone Quarry is an underground limestone mine/quarry.
Responsibilities- Perform repairs, routine maintenance, and inspections on a wide variety of mining and quarry equipment and fixed plant equipment.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair service issues affecting major components (engines, brake systems, transmissions, torque converters, hydraulic systems, drive train components, heating/cooling and electrical systems).
- Complete maintenance and work order repair records.
- Inspect machines for abnormalities or defects and perform housekeeping duties and work area checks.
- Weld and fabricate as needed and operate mobile equipment.
- Operate a company vehicle on public highways and job sites.
- Develop working relationships with other employees and vendors; work with limited supervision and schedule own work.
- Weekend work/overtime may be required.
- Ability to stoop, push, kneel, twist, and lift up to 70 lbs; climb and work at heights up to 20 feet; work in all weather conditions.
- Uncompromising focus on safety excellence.
- Minimum of five years of experience working on heavy equipment.
- Perform heavy or major maintenance repairs as needed.
- Perform routine scheduled maintenance on heavy equipment and trucks.
- Complete maintenance and work order repair records.
- Be able to weld and fabricate, as needed.
- Familiarity with heavy equipment parts catalogs, procurement, handling, storage, and cost.
- Able to develop working relationships with other employees and vendors.
- Able to work with limited supervision and schedule own work.
- Ability to operate mobile equipment and a company vehicle on public roads and job sites.
- Weekend work/overtime may be required.
- Physical ability to stoop, push, kneel, twist, and lift 70 lbs; height work up to 20 feet; all-weather adaptability.
