Position Summary
At Republic Services, Technicians play a critical role in maintaining the performance and quality of our fleet. A Technician performs routine and preventive maintenance on diesel and non-diesel equipment and trucks. The Technician Apprenticeship program will train an entry-level technician over a two-year period in the following:
- Electrical diagnosis of starting & charging systems.
- Air conditioning & heating component identification & inspection.
- Wheel end assembly component identification & inspection.
- Air & brakes component identification & inspection.
- Hydraulics component identification and inspection.
- Truck preventative maintenance.
The Republic Services Technician Apprenticeship program offers a 9-week company-paid, hands‑on training at our Technical Institute in Dallas, Texas, followed by 22 months of on‑the‑job training (OJT) with mentorship and virtual instructor‑led content. Accelerated progress is possible for those who meet milestones early, allowing advancement to a Level C Technician. Apprentices receive a direct supervisor at a chosen business unit, hands‑on experience, and support from a dedicated mentor to achieve apprentice certification as a Republic Services entry‑level Diesel Mechanic.
