Our reputation is built on quality work, reliability, and getting projects completed safely and efficiently. We are looking for an experienced Heavy Equipment Operator who takes pride in their work and can operate independently while maintaining high standards of production and safety.

Position Overview

Excalibur Land Clearing is seeking a highly skilled Heavy Equipment Operator with experience in land clearing, forestry mulching, excavation, grading, and site preparation. This is not an entry-level position. The ideal candidate has hands‑on experience operating multiple types of equipment and understands how to work productively while protecting equipment, property, and surrounding environments.

This role requires someone who can show up prepared, work without constant supervision, identify potential issues before they become problems, and consistently produce quality results.

Responsibilities
  • Operate heavy equipment safely and efficiently on active job sites
  • Perform land clearing, forestry mulching, grading, excavation, and site preparation work
  • Operate excavators, skid steers, forestry mulchers, dozers, compact track loaders, and other equipment as needed
  • Read terrain and develop efficient clearing and grading strategies
  • Load, unload, and secure equipment for transportation
  • Conduct daily equipment inspections and report maintenance needs
  • Perform routine equipment maintenance and greasing
  • Follow project plans and instructions while maintaining productivity
  • Work safely around utilities, structures, trees, and environmentally sensitive areas
  • Maintain a clean and professional job site
  • Communicate effectively with management, customers, and team members
Qualifications

Required:

  • Must live relatively close to the Louisville, KY area
  • Minimum 3 years of heavy equipment operating experience
  • Experience with land clearing, forestry mulching, grading, excavation, or site development
  • Ability to operate excavators and skid steers proficiently
  • Valid driver's license with clean driving record
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Preferred:

  • Experience operating forestry mulchers
  • Experience operating dozers and compact track loaders
  • CDL Class A or willingness to obtain one
  • Experience hauling equipment and trailers
  • Knowledge of GPS grading systems and site layout
  • Mechanical aptitude and equipment maintenance experience
